2006 Conference Press Release
Chicago Selected for International Enneagram Conference
Personality Typing System’s Global Impact To Be Explored
Cincinnati, OH – July 6, 2006 -- The International Enneagram Association (IEA) will hold its 12th annual conference in Chicago from August 3 through 6. This year’s theme, “Spiraling Into Greater Consciousness,” will feature keynote speaker Don Beck, a noted authority on “Spiral Dynamics™,” which explores hidden complexity codes that shape human nature, create global diversity, and drive evolutionary change. Richard Rohr, an internationally known lecturer, seminar leader, and author of spiritual books including several on the Enneagram, will deliver the endnote.
The Enneagram is a personality typing system that offers insight into interpersonal dynamics and personal growth. Psychologists, business consultants, coaches, and spiritual teachers use it. “More than any other tool in use today, the Enneagram helps you understand why you behave the way you do, what motivates you, and how you relate to others,” explains Bea Chestnut, president of the IEA.
The Pre-Conference Day offers two tracks – one focused on state-of-the-art Enneagram work around the world; the other focused on increasing personal awareness of habits and motivations.” The state-of-the-art track offers panel discussions by leading authors, teachers, and innovators in their fields on the Enneagram’s impact on business, psychology and spirituality, as well as how to expand it worldwide. The personal consciousness session offers an all-day retreat led by Santikaro, a spiritual teacher and founder of Liberation Park in Chicago.
The Institute for Continuing Education is a cosponsor of the event. Attendees at the conference can obtain continuing education credit in psychology, counseling, social work, marriage/family therapy, nursing and alcohol/drug abuse counseling.
The IEA was founded in 1994 with the mission to provide a worldwide hub for the sharing of all developments in the theory and ethical application of the Enneagram. Today, there are nearly 2,000 members from around the world. In addition to the annual conference the IEA also offers a speakers bureau.
