Report from Spain

I am fortunate to have attended the recent IEA Spain meeting in Madrid. There were 60 people in attendance from all over Spain. Many important local teachers and representatives of several major schools and were there, as well as leaders in the consciousness movement, such as the head of Ken Wilber's Integral Institute in Spain.

Premiere issue of IEA's Enneagram Journal to be published July, 2008.
The IEA is launching The Enneagram Journal, a professional peer-review journal to be published annually by the IEA, with its first issue due out in July, 2008.

President's Letter

This is a very exciting time, in which the Enneagram is increasingly being taught and used in diverse settings and arenas all over the world. Being in touch with several international groups has been a blessing and a wonderful opportunity to see synchronicity happening. It is gratifying to note that the content and quality of Enneagram material is improving on a global scale. International teachers and practitioners are becoming better educated and prepared to preserve the integrity of our system.

The IEA is succeeding in bringing Enneagram teachers, practitioners and enthusiasts together in communities. The annual IEA Conference in the USA improves each year, as a place for high quality presentations and important encounters. Many other local IEA conferences and events are taking place or in the planning stages in countries around the world, including Brazil, China, Colombia, Spain and others. And right now the IEA is developing several new organizational plans that will extend its reach, helping the Enneagram change the world.

This would not be possible without the vision, dedication, and hard work of a very distinguished and committed IEA Board of Directors. Our Board has recently been enriched by two new members: Gail Barber, from Birmingham, Alabama, USA, who is our new Treasurer, and Oscar Ayala, from Cali, Colombia, the new head of our international expansion.

I am most grateful to be part of this terrific team that is moved by a sense of service to the world and by a spirit of allowing the Enneagram to use us (rather than the opposite). And I am most honored to have become the new IEA President, coming from Sao Paulo, Brazil, South America.

Oscar Ayala is the Latin America regional head for Change Management at the Consumer Johnson & Johnson Group of Companies. In addition Oscar is the founder and current VP of the Humanistic Association for the Development of Being (ASHER), created 4 years ago which currently represents the IEA in Colombia. He has attended dozens of programs with several Enneagram teachers and practitioners including David Daniels, Uranio Paes, Ginger Lapid-Bogda, Eduardo Insignares, Andrea Isaac, Gustavo Mejìa, Amir Gabriel Castro and many others.
